Ontario Tour - May 31, 2012

Stephanie Miletic (Tour Manager)

We are enroute to Parry Sound at the moment and I have some time on the bus to reflect on the fabulous day we had yesterday. We arrived in Mindemoya and immediately were ushered in for lunch. The Mindemoya Missionary Church staff prepared a great lunch and we even had rhubarb crumble for dessert with rhubarb that was picked that morning!

Beethoven Eroica - May 24, 2012

Edwin Huizinga (violin)

I’m wondering what all the clicking noise is by my feet and realize my flip flops are flopping around in excitement. Yay yay, I’m a little boy waiting for something exciting to happen! Well, kind of – except I just showed up at work with Tafelmusik and Bruno Weil is about to give the downbeat to Beethoven’s Third Symphony. It’s going to be a good day!

Versailles Tour - May 15, 2012

John Abberger (oboe)

We have returned from Versailles, exhilarated by the enthusiastic reception that Armide received there. This is a grand moment for Opera Atelier, and we are all savouring their success.

For musicians who, like us, do not live in Europe but spend most of our time performing European music, the experience of performing this music in historical venues cannot be adequately described.

Bach and the Violin - May 3, 2012

Patricia Ahern (violin)

We had our first performance of the Rachel Podger programme last night, and it was great fun! From the very first notes of the Bach's E major violin concerto, Rachel happily and energetically led us with all the same brilliance and detail that we worked on in rehearsals. Our recorder/flute soloists Alison Melville and Matthias Maute were virtuosic and a treat to hear in a Telemann concerto and then also in Brandenburg Concerto #4.
