From Salmon to Snow - Western Canada Tour, November 30, 2012

Aisslinn Nosky, violin

The day after the performance in Nanaimo was a day off in the schedule for the orchestra to rest and recuperate before travelling out to Saskatoon, Regina and Calgary. Most of the orchestra spent the day in Victoria and I stayed in Nanaimo to visit with my parents. We had a lovely day socialising before my parents drove me back down to Victoria so that I could travel with the orchestra the next day.

Homecoming - Western Canada Tour, November 27, 2012

Aisslinn Nosky, violin

Yesterday we headed from Victoria up to Duncan to play at the Cowichan Valley Theatre presented by the Cowichan Symphony Society. As the bus drove over the rugged terrain, the orchestra enjoyed beautiful views of the Sidney peninsula and Saanich Inlet.

A Voyage to Vancouver Island - Western Canada Tour, November 24, 2012

Aisslinn Nosky, violin

Tour day 2 started with a very beautiful sunrise in Vancouver. It was very mild and I took a brief walk around Lonsdale Quay in order to soak up the view and the fresh ocean smells before we boarded the bus to head to the ferry. It was a beautiful day for the crossing and all of the orchestra could be spotted on the outside decks trying to capture the view with assorted smartphones and cameras.

A Rock Star Greeting - Western Canada Tour, November 23, 2012

Aisslinn Nosky, violin

I am always excited to be touring with Tafelmusik, but our trips which include B.C. fill me with a heightened sense of excitement because as well as turning new audiences on to our performances, I get to re-connect with family and old friends because I grew up in Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island.

Gramophone Review - The Galileo Project

New and imaginative ways of programming Baroque repertoire that was never intended for the modern concert or CD formats are always welcome and Tafelmusik have found a corker here.

Australia/New Zealand Tour - Mar 15, 2012

Cristina Zacharias (violin)

From Adelaide our next and final Australian stop was Brisbane. We arrived to a gorgeous tropical day. Tom Georgi lived and worked in Brisbane until he joined Tafelmusik in 1989, and he invited us to a Turkish restaurant to meet a group of his friends from the local musical community.

Australia/New Zealand Tour - Mar 14, 2012

Cristina Zacharias (violin)

We left Sydney and headed to Adelaide, where we are part of the Adelaide Festival. The Adelaide festival is a huge month-long event that incorporates orchestras, bands, food, drink and a huge fringe festival.

Monday was our first of two stops in Sydney and it went brilliantly. The schedule was very tight.

Australia/New Zealand Tour - Mar 7, 2012

Shaun Smyth (narrator)

It’s been a whirlwind trip so far. It seems like most everyone has gotten over their jetlag. Perth was our first stop and so beautiful. We played to a packed-out concert hall and some people even stood up – which we heard later was very unusual for Australian audiences.

Australia/New Zealand Tour - Mar 6, 2012

Christopher Verrette (violin)

From Perth, we have moved on to Melbourne, which seems much larger and faster paced, more metropolitan and "monumental" with its many parks, museums, arts centres and such. We are also arriving at about 5PM on a Friday, which further accentuates the intensity of first traffic and then nightlife.
