Soprano Carrie Loring has been a member of the Tafelmusik Chamber Choir since 1992. She received a BA from the University of Toronto, and her singing certificates from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Best known as longtime host of TV Ontario’s Polka Dot Door, she toured coast to coast with numerous children’s shows involving singing, storytelling, mime, and puppetry. Carrie has sung with Opera Atelier, Choir 21, The Elmer Iseler Singers, Elora Festival Singers, Bach Festival Singers, Soundstreams, Black Creek Festival, Tallis Choir, Toronto Consort, The National Ballet of Canada, The Toronto Summer Music Festival, and the Theatre of Early Music. Carrie has performed as a studio singer in television and film, and has sung on 23 CD recordings. Enjoying the challenge of singing in different styles, she has sung back-up vocals for Roger Hodgson (Supertramp), performed in the cast of Sondheim in September, and can be heard in both the TV series The Borgias and The Tudors, most notably under the beheading of Anne Boleyn! Carrie is a vocal coach and the Director of the Preparatory Choir with the Bach Children’s Chorus. Outside of music, she enjoys photography, writing, canoeing, and attending her son’s baseball games.
