THE GLOBE AND MAIL 2 416.964.6337 Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra Breathtakingly wonderful Audience Feedback WELCOME TO TAFELMUSIK Renowned for its dynamic engaging and soulful performances Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir is one of the worlds leading period-instrument ensembles performing on instruments and in styles appropriate for the era of the music. Winner of nine JUNO Awards we are also Canadas most toured orchestra having performed in over 350 cities in 32 countries and are proud to call Toronto our home. Celebrating 35 years the Tafelmusik Chamber Choir is renowned for its clarity and brilliance in performance and has been described as the best period-performance choir anywhere in the world. The Globe and Mail The heart of our music is that of the baroque era from 1600 to 1750. We also explore music of later times including the classical and early romantic periods up to around 1825 and occasionally perform brand-new compositions created for the unique sonorities and capabilities of our orchestra and choir. As a chamber-sized orchestra and choir we offer a fresh and collaborative performance style resulting in an experience quite different from that of a large symphony orchestra. We often perform standing and our intimate orchestral concerts are usually directed by a violinist but this year we are excited to also have programmes directed by a cellist and an oboist. Our choral and larger symphonic concerts are usually led by a conductor. With our 2016-2017 concerts offering something for all tastes we hope you will join our large and loyal audience this season. We look forward to welcoming you to our concerts.
