Page 24 Series 1 2 3 6 7 HANDEL WATER MUSIC We kick off our season with the perennial favourite Handels Water Music. Composed in 1717 for a party on the river Thames the piece features a large orchestra with glorious winds and brass. Performed alongside festive music of Handels contemporaries its the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of a new year with Tafelmusik. Jean Baptiste Cartier 1798 Luckily at this concert you dont need to choose with music by both composers featured One of the worlds foremost period cellists Christophe Coin joins us to perform dynamic concertos by Haydn and Boccherini and to direct symphonies by Dittersdorf and C.P.E.
