Tafelmusik and guest director and acclaimed fortepiano virtuoso Kristian Bezuidenhout take Mozart's Piano to the Isabel in Kingston, Ontario.
Kristian Bezuidenhout returns to direct Tafelmusik with his trademark vibrant and expressive style. Mozart was one of the first virtuosos of the new fortepiano (literally, the ‘loud-soft’), a creation capable of new subtleties and dynamics. He used all the colours of this new instrument to make his music at one moment dramatic and percussive, and the next shimmering and crystalline. Above all, he captured its lyrical nature in his sonatas and concertos—highlighted in this exciting program centred on the Concerto for piano in A Major.
Also featured are dynamic symphonies by Mozart and two of his mentors, Carl Philipp Emanuel and Johann Christoph Bach—all directed from the fortepiano by Kristian Bezuidenhout.
