Celebrate the holiday season with this concert of gleaming instrumental gems.

Renowned British trumpeter David Blackadder makes his Tafelmusik debut in this festive musical journey through baroque Europe. Joyous Christmas concertos by Locatelli and Corrette are stops along the way, offering light and warmth on our dark winter nights.

Your travels culminate on a high note with Johann Sebastian Bach’s glorious Brandenburg Concerto No 2, featuring Blackadder’s dazzling talents on full display as soloist. Grab your mulled wine and cozy wrap, and settle in for this instrumental highlight of the holiday season.

What's interesting about this concert?

  • This concert was conceived as a festive musical journey through baroque Europe, with stops in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and England (think Christmas markets and mulled wine).
  • Soloist David Blackadder is the principal trumpet for the Academy of Ancient Music in the United Kingdom - he recently performed at the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle!
  • Trumpet divas: during the baroque era, the finest trumpeters were just as celebrated as the top opera singers. It is an almost Olympian challenge for a baroque trumpeter to perform Bach's Brandenburg Concerto no. 2 five nights in a row.
  • This concert offers a welcome respite from pre-holiday hustle and bustle.
