Join the revelry for this concert of merrymaking Mozart, including his Posthorn Serenade and Concerto for flute and harp.
What better way to ring in our new season than with the sunny, witty music of Mozart? We open with the rarely performed Posthorn Serenade, featuring the valveless instrument that signalled the arrival of the mail coach. Mozart’s serenade, originally composed for outdoor festivities marking the end of the academic year, bursts with youthful energy.
The conviviality continues with Tafelmusik’s debut performance of the charming Concerto for flute and harp, part of our cycle of Mozart concertos, and the Krumpholz Concerto, a virtuoso tour de force for classical harp. The unique timbre of period instruments lends an intriguing flavour to this program featuring three extraordinary women.
