In our 2019/20 season, we are exploring how "old" can meet "new." This theme runs across our season in many ways, including six short new works by living composers written to complement the programs.
We are delighted to welcome Grégoire Jeay, who was commissioned to compose a new work for solo harpsichord for our Goldberg Variations program in April.

In Tafelmusik meets Tchaikovsky, we are premiering a new arrangement of Mendelssohn’s famous Scherzo from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Tafelmusik asked composer Carlo Citterio to write the arrangement in keeping with our season theme of Old meets New, and in order to offer a taste of Mendelssohn’s late work to contrast to the early symphonies that open the concert. Carlo is Elisa’s brother, and he has previously written cadenzas for concertos by Mozart and Beethoven performed by Elisa with Tafelmusik.
