As we continue to celebrate 40 years of Tafelmusik, we look back at this incredible journey through timelines. At this time of the season we remember our third decade, 1999 to 2009.

1999/2000
Managing Director Ottie Lockey retires after 19 years of accomplished service

Tafelmusik welcomes Managing Director Tricia Baldwin

Jeanne Lamon appointed a Member of the Order of Canada

2001/02
First annual Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute (TBSI)

2002/03
10th anniversary as orchestra-in-residence at the Klang und Raum Festival, Irsee, Germany

Le Mozart Noir international television documentary wins a Banff Rockie Award at the Banff Television Festival, and is nominated for a Gemini Award

2003/04
Tafelmusik appointed Baroque Orchestra-in-Residence at the University of Toronto

2004/05
Tafelmusik receives a Grammy nomination, for Rameau Orchestral Suites (CBC)

Film documentary Four Seasons Mosaic premiered on CBC television

2005/06
Tafelmusik releases the TafelKids™ CD: Baroque Adventure: The Quest for Arundo Donax, scripted and programmed by Alison Mackay; the CD wins Tafelmusik its tenth JUNO award, and its first in the category of “Children’s Album of the Year

The Chamber Choir celebrates its 25th anniversary, and releases Gloria on the CBC label, featuring music by Bach, Vivaldi, and Mondonville.

2006/07
Canadian Independent Music Award nomination for “Favourite Classical Artist/Group of the Year”

2007/08
Tafelmusik returns to Asia for the first time in nine years, with concerts in Macau, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Seoul

Music Director Jeanne Lamon receives the 2007 Betty Webster Award, awarded annually by Orchestras Canada to celebrate outstanding contributions to Canadian orchestras

2008/09
Tafelmusik makes its debut at Carnegie Hall

In recognition of Tafelmusik’s contribution to the International Year of Astronomy with its highly acclaimed multimedia Galileo Project: Music of the Spheres program, the International Astronomical Union names an asteroid after Tafelmusik
