Baritone Daniel Thielmann is a recent graduate of the Yulanda M. Faris Young Artist Program, holds a Master of Music degree in Opera Performance from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Manitoba. Opera highlights include Dandini in Vancouver Operas production of La Cenerentola, Pritschitsch in Vancouver Opera’s The Merry Widow, the title role in Don Giovanni with the University of Toronto, Dandini in the University of Manitoba’s La Cenerentola, Leporello in Saskatoon Operas Don Giovanni, and Le Dancaïre in Carmen with Opera NUOVA. Solo concert highlights include the Mozart Requiem with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, Handel’s Messiah with both the Surrey City Orchestra and Canzona, and the St John Passion with Cor Unum. He has also been a participant in the Franz Schubert Institute in Baden, Austria, where he worked with Elly Ameling, Andreas Schmidt, Robert Holl, Rudolf Jansen, Helmut Deutsch, and others. Daniel has sung with Tafelmusik upon occasion and joins the choir as a full member this season. He also has experience as both a soloist and chorister with Canzona, Manitoba’s premiere baroque choral ensemble.
