Tafelmusik Sing-Along Messiah Video Contest

Contest Rules & Regulations

  1. You must be at least 18 years of age to enter.
  2. You must have the express permission of all persons in your video to publicly distribute the video, including the parents or guardians of any minors visible in your video.
  3. The music and voices in your video must be your own and may not be commercially pre-recorded.
  4. Videos should be a maximum of 90 seconds long.
  5. You must submit your video by sending a Windows Media Video (.wmv), an Audio Video Interleave file (.avi) or an MP4 file less than 10 MB by e-mail to SingAlong@Tafelmusik.org.
  6. You may submit more than one video.
  7. Contest entries will be posted on Tafelmusik’s YouTube contest channel at www.youtube.com/SingAlongContest.
  8. All entries must be received before Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 11:59 pm (EST).
  9. There will be three (3) Category winners and (1) GRAND PRIZE winner. Category winners will be awarded a Tafelmusik CD Prize Package and two (2) tickets to Tafelmusik’s Sing-Along Messiah at Massey Hall on December 20, 2009 at 2pm.* The GRAND PRIZE winner will receive four (4) VIP tickets to Tafelmusik’s Sing-Along Messiah at Massey Hall on December 20, 2009 at 2pm*, an autographed photo of Maestro Handel, a CD prize package, and an onstage appearance during the concert including an introduction by Maestro Handel.** In addition, each winner will receive two (2) tickets to a special filming of Sing-Along Messiah in January 2010, in Toronto.
  10. The winners will be announced on Monday, December 14, 2009.

*If any prize winner is unable to attend the concert on December 20, 2009, they have the option to transfer their winning tickets to someone of their choice by informing Tafelmusik by email at SingAlong@Tafelmusik.org within 2 days of being notified that they have won. Tafelmusik is not responsible for transportation of any kind to or from the concert.

**Should the GRAND PRIZE winner not wish to appear on stage, they may decline to participate in this portion of the prize.

Additional Legal

  1. By submitting your video to Tafelmusik you warrant that you are at least 18 years of age at the date that you submit your video and are fully able and competent to enter into the terms, conditions and warranties set forth in these rules. In the event of a dispute about the identity of an entrant, the authorized account holder of the e-mail account used to enter the competition at the actual time of entry will be deemed as such. You may be required to show proof of identification and age and/or proof that you are the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the winning entry. Entries must be submitted by an individual, not a group. Group entries must be submitted by one person. Employees, board members, representatives, agents or independent contractors of Tafelmusik, or members of the contest judging panel are ineligible to participate.
  2. By submitting your video to Tafelmusik, you grant Tafelmusik a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, and display the video for the purposes of the contest and any current or future promotional activities whatsoever including adding the Tafelmusik logo to it. You will have no right of approval, no claim to any compensation and no claim arising out of the use, alteration or distortion of the video.
  3. Tafelmusik is entitled to remove any material it deems inappropriate, offensive or abusive from either the contest website or its contest channel on YouTube and reserves the right to take appropriate action if illegal material is posted or illegal conduct is suspected.
  4. Personal information collected is done so under the guidelines of Bill C-6 of the Federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act for the purposes of verification, communication, or promotion for and about Tafelmusik, its related events and other events of interest to our patrons. Questions concerning this collection should be addressed to Alex Skoczylas, Director of Marketing at askoczylas@tafelmusik.org. If you do not wish to receive communications from Tafelmusik for future events please indicate this in your submission.
  5. The contest officially commences on Monday, November 2, 2009, at 12:01 am (EST). All contest entries must be received by Saturday, December 12, 2009 by 11:59 pm (EST). Entries will only be accepted online. Illegible, incomplete, late entries or entries that Tafelmusik deems to be inappropriate in any way will be disqualified. After the deadline, Tafelmusik and/or Maestro Handel will choose the winners from among all eligible entries. This decision is final. Once the decision has been made, the winners will be notified by telephone and/or email, and the winning entry will be announced on Tafelmusik’s website www.tafelmusik.org on Monday, December 14, 2009. Once the contest winners have been selected, Tafelmusik reserves the right to notify the contest winners before the public announcement on Monday, December 14, 2009.
  6. Prize details not specifically set forth in these rules are at Tafelmusik’s sole discretion.
  7. Prizes must be accepted as awarded and cannot be substituted or redeemed for cash, except at the sole discretion of Tafelmusik.
  8. Your video must be your own original work. Tafelmusik reserves the right to disqualify from the contest any video which infringes the copyright or other intellectual property rights of third parties. You shall be solely responsible for your own video and the consequences of posting or publishing it. In connection with the contest, you hereby warrant that: i) you own or have all the necessary licenses, rights, consents and permissions to submit your video to Tafelmusik; and ii) you waive any moral rights in your video; and iii) your video does not and shall not infringe the rights of any third party. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tafelmusik from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities and expenses (including but not limited to legal fees) arising from: i) your violation of any of these contest rules; ii) your violation of any third party right including without limitation any copyright or privacy right; and iii) your tampering or attempt to tamper with the entry process, the operation of the contest or the contest website. This indemnity will survive the contest. Tafelmusik also reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify an entrant for the aforementioned behaviour.
  9. In entering this contest, each entrant (i) releases Tafelmusik and its employees, directors, officers, representatives, agents, and administrators, from any and all liability for any loss, harm, damages, cost or expense arising out of participation in this contest or participating in any prize-related activity or the acceptance, use or misuse of any prize, including without limitation costs, injuries, losses and damages related to personal injuries, death, damage to, loss or destruction of property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation, or portrayal in a false light, or from any and all claims of third parties arising therefrom and (ii) grants Tafelmusik the unrestricted rights, in their collective or individual discretion, to publish without any further compensation the name, picture, portrait, likeness, voice and ideas of that entrant for advertising and promotional purposes.
  10. Tafelmusik reserves the right to amend or terminate the contest and/or these contest rules at any time for any reason without prior notice.
