The Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute is led by some of the world's finest musicians in the field of baroque performance. The Institute is held at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto. This comprehensive training program includes orchestra and choir rehearsals, masterclasses, opera scene study for singers, chamber ensembles, private lessons, lectures and workshops, classes in baroque dance, and concerts by both participants and faculty. We invite advanced students, pre-professional and professional musicians to apply.
In 2012 we enter the second decade of the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute (TBSI), a unique training programme in instrumental and vocal baroque performance practice. Since its inception in 2002, TBSI has continued to attract high-calibre musicians from far and wide. Last year we received 165 applications and welcomed 90 participants, including 19 singers, 4 flutists, 4 oboists, 5 bassoonists, 21 violinists, 6 violists, 9 cellists, 3 bassists, 8 harpsichordists/organists, 4 lutenists/guitarists, 6 conductors, and 5 continuo assistants.
Consider joining an amazing group of musicians to delve into the world of baroque music: explore a baroque instrument; study in masterclasses; enjoy private lessons; play or sing with other participants and Tafelmusik musicians in ensembles, orchestra and choir; learn to dance a minuet or act with baroque gestures. We promise you a great deal of fun, as well as an intensive learning experience.
