Bequests and Planned Gifts
A Bequest in Your Will
Wills are the central pillar of estate planning. A gift by will, known as a bequest, provides the opportunity to create a legacy for Tafelmusik - once your needs and those of your loved ones have been met.
Funds are usually bequeathed as a:
- Residual amount
- A share or percentage of your estate
- Specific dollar amount, a specific piece of personal use or other property
Benefits of making a bequest:
- A bequest is a tax-effective means of supporting Tafelmusik
- Your estate may claim gifts in the year of death equal to 100 per cent of your net income in that year and the preceding year
- You have use of the asset while you are alive
- A bequest is revocable and can be changed if your financial circumstances change
What you should know about arranging a bequest:
- Tafelmusik is pleased to assist you and your legal counsel by providing sample wording to ensure that we can accept your gift as you intend
- Please use the legal name "Tafelmusik” in your bequest clause. Our Charitable Business Number is 11920 8320 RR0001
To ensure that your particular needs are met and that your wishes are honoured, we recommend that you consult legal and/or financial advisors. At the same time, also contact us at Tafelmusik and let us know about your intentions. Not only can we answer any question you may have, we can also have a conversation about how you would like the proceeds from your gift put to use.
If you have already made arrangements for a legacy gift to Tafelmusik, please send us a completed Legacy Gift Confirmation form so that we may ensure proper administration and recognition of your gift.
