Tafelmusik’s education concerts return!

Tafelmusik has a rich history of engaging with the community via educational outreach. After a period of growth, Tafelmusik is reawakening our educational outreach program beginning with the mounting of a beloved show titled Bach and His World, created by Alison Mackay.

Bach and His World is an engaging multimedia program that tells the tale of composer Johann Sebastian Bach and his children. Through interactive elements, the audience is transported along with Bach’s children in the discovery of the way music is made, and how it can connect people. Acclaimed Canadian actor, Blair Williams, will be resuming his role as the tale’s narrator.

Creator Alison Mackay has an extensive background in educational programming for students of all ages and experience levels. Alison is a Juno Award winner for Children’s Recording of the Year, and is a cultural icon in our community and beyond. To our delight, Alison will also be gracing the stage along with core members of Tafelmusik to play double bass in this mounting of Bach and His World.

Bach and His World is a FREE concert being held at Trinity St. Paul’s Centre, 427 Bloor St. West, Toronto on Thursday, April 10th at 10:30 am and 12:15pm. The program is geared toward students Grade 3-7 but could extend to fit ages slightly younger or older depending on your needs.

We would be very pleased to welcome any classrooms regardless of affiliation to musical programming in or out of school.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend! We are happy to provide classroom materials and curriculum links so your excursion with Tafelmusik can be tied into in-class learning.

If you have questions or would like to discuss any logistical concerns, please reach out to Sarah Belle Walsh, Tafelmusik’s Education Coordinator, at swalsh@tafelmusik.org or by phone at 1-833-964-6337 ex. 238. Please do not hesitate to reach out as we hope to break down any barriers that may keep your school from joining our educational programming. We look forward to seeing you there!

If your school or organization would like to be added to the list of attendees, please sign-up here.
