2 (416) 964-6337 WELCOME TO TAFELMUSIK Whether on tour or at home in Trinity-St-Paul’s Centre, an historic church in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood, at its heart Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir is a family of collaborative musicians. Steeped in the historical traditions of the baroque and classical eras, together we form one of the world’s leading period instrument ensembles. The heart of our music is that of the baroque era, from 1600 to 1750, but we also explore music of the classical and early romantic periods, up to around 1825. We occasionally perform brand new compositions created for the unique sonorities and capabilities of our instruments and our acclaimed choir. Tafelmusik performances are characterized by energy, involvement, and intimacy. We often perform standing and are usually led by our Music Director or Choir Director Ivars Taurins, while also welcoming guest directors from time to time. The freshness and immediacy of Tafelmusik’s performance style is an experience that is quite different from that of a larger symphony orchestra. Under the leadership of our new Music Director, violinist Elisa Citterio, our 2017/18 concerts promise to be some of the most exciting to have hit our stages. We hope you will join our large and growing audience this season. Tafelmusik looks forward to welcoming you!
