The most popular opera of Mozart’s lifetime, The Abduction from the Seraglio is a glittering, exotic confection served up in the burlesque tradition of 18th-century Viennese comedy. The Turkish and European worlds are thrown into hilarious contrast by the irreverent antics of some of Mozart’s most outrageous and eccentric lovers. David Fallis conducts the Tafelmusik Orchestra in the North American stage premiere on period instruments.
