Song of Songs 1:2
Apricots and pomegranates, figs and vine blossoms…the sensuous love poetry of the Song of Songs has inspired glorious music by composers of the baroque era and beyond. Join members of the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir, and special guests, as we explore this ancient Hebrew poem. The concert features music by Buxtehude, Monteverdi, Vitali, Purcell, Schütz, J.C.F. Bach, J.S. Bach and Healey Willan, traditional Arabic and Hebrew music, and a new commission by Toronto composer Christos Hatzis.
This concert is part of the Sacred Spaces, Sacred Circles Arts Festival, a celebration of music and architecture, Spring of 2008.
