Join us for the 25th anniversary of Sing-Along Messiah! This festive event with the Tafelmusik Chamber Choir and Orchestra, led by a feisty Maestro Handel (aka Choir Director Ivars Taurins) is an annual tradition. The sheer joy you will feel as your voice joins a mass choir of 2,700 to sing the Hallelujah Chorus may be the best gift you receive this holiday season. Bring your own score, or purchase one at Massey Hall. Seating is general admission, by voice part, and non-singers are always welcome. A great outing for the whole family!

Interested in rehearsing in advance? Here is a printable PDF of the full programme listing for the 2011 Sing-Along Messiah, with page numbers for the Novello edition of the score.

10 Tips for Enjoying Sing-Along Messiah

1. This is a fun, family event – warm up your singing voice and prepare to have a great time!

2. If you wish to sing (and you don’t have to!) it’s best if you have a musical score to follow. Bring your own, buy one when you get to the concert, or purchase one ahead of time at Remenyi House of Music (210 Bloor Street West; visit www.remenyi.com for more information.) We will sell the Watkins Shaw edition, published by Novello.

3. Musical scores may be purchased inside the front doors of Massey Hall upon entry. Please have cash ready – the cost is $10 (tax included).

4. Scores will also be available during intermission at the Tafelmusik CD sales table on the lower level, outside Centuries Lounge. (Tafelmusik CDs will also be available for purchase for those last-minute holiday gifts!)

5. Seating at Sing-Along Messiah is general admission by voice part: soprano, alto, tenor, bass, and “mixed”. If you are a keen singer and a soprano, then we encourage you to head to the soprano section. (We’ll have staff holding signs to guide you.) If you prefer to sit with your family/friends, then head to the “mixed” section. (The occasional baritone does infiltrate the soprano section!)

6. The concert starts at 2:00 pm. We try to open the doors as early as we can, but there may be a line-up when you arrive, so please do dress warmly. Kindly make arrangements to meet your party prior to joining the line. (Please, no reserving spots in line or seats in the house!)

7. Remember – everyone with a ticket will get a seat! Please be patient. For those with mobility issues, please feel free to ask Massey Hall staff for help getting to your seat.

8. Once the doors open, food and drinks are available for purchase in Centuries Lounge on the lower level of Massey Hall. Please note that Centuries Lounge does not accept credit/debit cards. Food and drinks purchased at Massey Hall are allowed inside the Auditorium.

9. You may bring outside food into the Massey Hall, but liquor laws state that you may not bring any outside beverages into the building.

10. Enjoy yourself! We look forward to seeing you at the concert.
