Tafelmusik in partnership with the Toronto Public Library is pleased to present a FREE SCREENING of The Four Seasons Mosaic documentary.
The Four Seasons Mosaic, produced by Media Headquarters, is an award-winning documentary about an extraordinary collaboration between some of classical music’s most respected musicians. In 2004, composer Mychael Danna (who recently scored Life of Pi) joined forces with the world-acclaimed orchestra Tafelmusik, as well as top performers from India, China, and the Canadian Arctic, to create a spectacular concert performance that celebrates the music of a global village. It is a bold orchestral undertaking that re-imagines Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons for the 21st Century. The documentary features Tafelmusik's virtuoso violinists performing Vivaldi's Spring, Summer, and Fall concertos. Wen Zhao (Chinese pipa), Aruna Narayan Kalle (Indian sarangi), and Aqsarniit (Inuit throat singers) bring to the stage seasonal music from other traditions.
The screening will include a brief presentation by pipa player Wen Zhao and programme creator Alison Mackay.
