Guest Directed by Alfredo Bernardini, oboe, and Cecilia Bernardini, violin
“A sparkling and scintillating performance that was delivered in a comprehensively period style.” – The Herald (on Cecilia)
The father/daughter team of oboist Alfredo Bernardini and violinist Cecilia Bernardini co-lead this concert exploring the family genius of J.S. Bach and his eldest sons. Get to know the music of Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, whose work is full of quirk and surprise, and Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach, whose music straddles both the baroque and classical eras, as well as C.P.E.’s godfather, Georg Philipp Telemann.
Both returning to Tafelmusik following acclaimed appearances in past seasons, daughter and father will take turns centre stage as soloist on J.S. Bach’s exuberant Concerto for violin in E Major, and C.P.E. Bach’s Concerto for oboe in E-flat Major, respectively.
All ticket holders are invited to attend our free Pre-Concert Chats at Trinity-St. Paul's Centre. Join us one hour before each performance to listen to a panel discussion with oboist John Abberger and violinist Julia Wedman, moderated by Hannah French. Dr. French is a freelance musicologist, broadcaster, and baroque flautist.
Join us after the performance on Wednesday, April 5 for a free informal discussion with our musicians and guest artists.
