The Orchestra in Baroque France
Janury 4-10, 2018
A message from Jeanne Lamon, Music Director Emerita
We are delighted to announce our sixth annual Tafelmusik Winter Institute, to be held in Toronto January 4–10, 2018. We will once again welcome a select group of period players to join us for an intensive week of specialized orchestral study.
This year we will focus on the wonderfully rich and colourful music of the French Baroque, studying and performing orchestral suites chosen from, among others, Lully, Campra, Marais, and Rameau. The Institute is open to experienced players of baroque flute, oboe, bassoon, lute, harpsichord, and string instruments.
The week will include orchestra rehearsals, sectionals, seminars, masterclasses, informal reading sessions, and a final public concert. Leadership of sections will be shared amongst the players.
Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful sponsors, we are delighted to be able to offer this programme at a greatly reduced fee of $295.
Details of the Tafelmusik Winter Institute are included on the following pages. The application deadline is October 11, 2017. If you are an experienced period player, please consider applying.
