A native of California, Dominic Teresi is principal bassoon of Tafelmusik, Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra and Carmel Bach Festival and a member of the chamber groups Quicksilver, Chiaroscuro and Juilliard Baroque. He has worked with Le Concert d’Astree, Philharmonia Baroque, Arion and Apollo’s Fire. In demand on dulcian, baroque, classical and modern bassoons, Dominic’s playing has been described as "lively and graceful" (New York Times) and "dazzling” (Toronto Star), "reminding us of the expressive powers of the bassoon" (The Globe and Mail). Mr. Teresi is a faculty member of The Juilliard School and also teaches at Tafelmusik’s Baroque Summer Institute and Oberlin's Baroque Performance Institute; he has given masterclasses at Oberlin, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Puerto Rico Conservatory. Dominic was recently a featured artist on CBC Radio’s “Music Around Us,” invited to perform a live radio concert of bassoon concertos and chamber works. He is a featured soloist on Tafelmusik’s Concerti Virtuosi, nominated for a JUNO award. Recent CD releases include Stile Moderno: New Music of the 17th Century with Quicksilver, Sweet Desire withChatham Baroque and Grammy-nominated projects with Boston Early Music Festival. Dominic holds an MM and AD in modern bassoon from Yale University, a médaille d'or from the Conservatoire National de Region in Bordeaux, France and a DM-ABD from Indiana University-Bloomington. He makes his home in Toronto with his wife, Sharon D’Cunha, and their two young children, David and Mira.
