Christina StelmacovichMezzo soprano Christina Stelmacovich, a winner of several international vocal competitions, has been described as “an elegant and noble singer whose beautiful voice and attention to diction captivated the listener.” Her career has already included performances in Canada, Europe, the U.S. and Mexico, where she has had the privilege of performing with such renowned conductors as the late Dr. Elmer Iseler, Lydia Adams, Sir David Willcocks, Kevin Mallon, Johannes Ulrich, Dr Patricia Wright, Gerald Fagan, Gerald Neufeld and Robert Cooper. Recent appearances include several performances of Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Litanies and Vespers, Bach’s St. John Passion, St. Matthew Passion and Cantata 170 for alto, Vivaldi’s Nisi Dominus and Duruflé’s Requiem. Upcoming performances for the 2011/2012 season include Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Bach’s B-Minor Mass and Handel’s Messiah. Christina has made two recordings with the Aradia Ensemble on the Naxos label of Christmas Motets by Charpentier and can be heard on another Naxos CD entitled Discover Music of the Baroque Era. Her extensive recordings also include a disc of works by Christos Hatzis with the Amadeus Choir of Toronto entitled Everlasting Light for CBC Records and the first recording of Ukrainian polyphonic music of the 16th and 17th centuries entitled Partesny Motets.
