Tenor Benjamin Stein's musical existence is defined by eclecticism – he works as a singer, teacher, music director, composer, guitarist and pianist, and is currently studying lute and theorbo with Tafelmusik’s Lucas Harris. He has an M.A. in Musicology from the University of Toronto, and has sung for Opera Atelier, Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, Elora Festival Singers and the Nathaniel Dett Chorale. He teaches guitar and voice at Havergal College, has collaborated with playwright Judith Thompson in several children’s productions of Shakespeare plays, and is currently composing a musical for children based on the Greek myth of Phaeton. In Spring 2007 Benjamin became Associate Music Director at Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto.
