Bass John Pepper has been singing with the Tafelmusik Choir for 24 years. Longtime Tafelmusik fans saw him as the Drunken Poet in Purcell's Fairy Queen and the Bourgeoise Babillarde in Lully's Triomphes de l'Amour et de Bacchus, and more recently he was a soloist in Purcell's My beloved spake. He has been a member of the Toronto Consort since 1990 and of the Toronto Chamber Choir since 1986. He has done roles in music theatre and opera with Huron Country Playhouse, Comus Music Theatre, Rainbow Stage and Opera Atelier. He recorded John Beckwith's Four Love Songs with the composer for the CBC, and sang in the world premieres of Murray Schafer's Princess of the Stars and Ra, and in the Canadian premiere of Pärt's St. John Passion.
