Bass John Pepper, in addition to his work with Tafelmusik, is a member of the Toronto Consort and has made many recordings with them. Longtime Tafelmusik fans saw him as the Drunken Poet in Purcell's Fairy Queen and the Bourgeoise Babillarde in Lully's Triomphes de l'Amour et de Bacchus, and more recently he was a soloist in Purcell's My beloved spake. He has done roles in music theatre and opera with Huron Country Playhouse, Comus Music Theatre, Rainbow Stage and Opera Atelier. A past member of Festival Singers of Canada, The Gents and the Toronto Chamber Choir, among others, he recorded John Beckwith's Four Love Songs with the composer for the CBC, and sang in the world premieres of Murray Schafer's Princess of the Stars and Ra, and in the Canadian premiere of Pärt's St. John Passion.
