Tafelmusik - Meet the Choir

Paul OrosBass-baritone Paul Oros hails from Toronto and has been singing for as long as he can remember. As a soloist and ensemble member his vocal versatility has taken him from 10th century plainchant to 21st century organized chaos, with many stops along the way. In addition to Tafelmusik, Paul’s had the privilege of appearing with the Canadian Opera Company, Opera Hamilton, Opera Atelier (including a 9-city tour of Japan), The Toronto Consort, The Bach Consort, and the National Ballet of Canada, among others. He was widely praised for his portrayal of an emotionally torn Pontius Pilate in staged performances of Bach’s St. John Passion with the Pax Christi Chorale. Paul’s recordings include rare Rossini and Verdi opera choruses with the Canadian Opera Company, the Juno-nominated Chants sacrés et profanes with the Tafelmusik Chamber Choir (both released by CBC Records) and a recording of Christmas music by Praetorius with The Toronto Consort on the Marquis label. He can also be heard on the soundtrack of seasons 1-4 of CBC Television’s The Tudors and the recent Showtime miniseries The Borgias starring Jeremy Irons.
