Kate Helsen has many wonderful memories of singing with Tafelmusik from 2000 to 2004, before moving to Germany to pursue her Ph.D. in Medieval Musicology. Having returned to her native Ontario, she is delighted that Tafelmusik has seen fit to ‘take her back’ in the 2008/2009 season. A musicologist, she has tried to balance theory with practice, studying voice as a music history major at the University of Western Ontario and singing with the Ontario Youth Choir and the Amabile Youth Singers. In Germany, she studied with Ursula Eittinger, a teacher at the conservatory in Mannheim.  And now she knows: the best part about living in Toronto - without a doubt - is Tafelmusik!
