Borys Medicky has appeared as solo harpsichordist and continuo player in the United States, Canada and Europe, performing with groups such as The Publick Music, the Aradia Baroque Ensemble, Common Ground, New York Baroque, Early Music New York, the Tiffany Consort, Baroque Music Beside the Grange, Tafelmusik and the Grand River Baroque Ensemble. He is a frequent performer at summer workshops and festivals in Canada and the United States. He also cultivates a strong interest in historical dance and its influence on instrumental music, having studied French baroque dance for several years with noted dancer and teacher Elaine Biagi Turner and acting as music director for the Toronto-based Baroque dance group La Belle Danse.

Recent projects have included intensive performance workshops in basso continuo accompaniment of baroque opera with renowned lutenist and opera director Stephen Stubbs in Boston as well as Bremen, Germany; the performance of a modern operetta in Russia as part of a New York-based ensemble; harpsichord continuo for a recording of Bach oboe concerti with John Abberger; working as repetiteur with Opera Atelier; and co-directing the Toronto Continuo Collective, an all-continuo ensemble dedicated to fostering an increased interest in the stylish basso continuo accompaniment of seventeenth-century vocal and instrumental music. Recent performances include Claudio Monteverdi's Orfeo with Tafelmusik and Opera Atelier in Toronto, and a concert at the Bloomington Early Music Festival.
Mr. Medicky studied harpsichord with Michael Jarvis in Canada and with Arthur Haas at the Eastman School of Music and SUNY Stony Brook, as well as baroque performance practice with lutenist Paul O'Dette. He received his doctoral degree from Stony Brook and was awarded the Samuel Baron Prize, given to an outstanding recent graduate. After studying and living in the United States for a number of years, he recently returned to Toronto, where he freelances and teaches privately.
